Election Target

What is Election Target TM?

Election Target is a new fun and interactive website with a three-point mission statement. Our goal is...
  • To allow visitors to predict elections by predicting either the overall outcome and/or the local results (eg. for ridings or districts)
  • To serve as an educational tool for teachers, students and citizens on how democracies work around the world (regions tracked include Canada, the U.S., Europe, Japan, Australia)
  • To serve as a forum which encourages citizens to get involved in the democratic process

That's nice, but what's in it for me?

Glad you asked! In addition to being a predictive and educational tool, the most important goal for Election Target is to be a fun place for people to visit, interact and have a chance to win prizes! For every major election that we cover, Election Target aims to have at least one contest where people are automatically entered into a draw for some cool items just for making predictions. For example, right now, we're giving away a $100 Amazon.ca gift card as part of our coverage of Canada's next federal election!

Surely there's a catch with these contest? Are you selling my information or making me purchase anything?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! The contests are purely to ensure that people make reasonably accurate predictions on our site, and not predicting that the Penguin Party wins all 250 seats. We greatly value your privacy and trust and would never, EVER misuse your information.

We cannot be clear enough about this, so let us spell it out here:
We will never require you to purchase anything! (we only sell site advertising space to advertisers anyway!)
We will never give out your information to a third party!

I see that I have to register for an account to predict and make comments here. Why??

That's a good question and we really wish that we didn't have to make folks go through another tedious internet form (they're everywhere these days, aren't they)? However, because we offer prizes for folks who predict on Election Target, and in order to make sure the language on our site stays family-friendly, we needed to make sure we weren't having folks register for 200 different accounts and posting nasty comments annonymously. The address information also helps us know where to send you your winner's prize too though!
